Rite of Christian Initiation for Children of Catechetical Age (RCIC)

As per Diocesan policy children between the ages of 7-16 who have expressed a desire to become a Catholic are to follow a process of spiritual growth and development modelled on the RCIA program.

“This form of the rite of Christian initiation is intended for children, not baptised as infants, who have attained the use of reason and are of catechetical age. They seek Christian initiation either at the direction of their parents or guardians or, with parental permission, on their own initiative.”

-Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, Section on the Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age, p. 242

RCIC is program tailored to the education and spiritual support of children who may attend non-Catholic schools, be out of step with the parish sacramental program or who just simply desire to be fully initiated into the Church.

This process is similar to RCIA with a team supporting the children in their journey to full reception into the Church which occurs at different times throughout the year dependent upon how many children are involved in the program.

If your child has expressed a desire to become Catholic, or you would like to enquire on their behalf please contact the Parish Office.
