Confirmation

‘Confirmation, like every Sacrament, is not the work of men but of God, who cares for our lives in such a manner as to mould us in the image of his Son, to make us capable of loving like him. He does this by infusing in us his Holy Spirit, whose action pervades the whole person and his entire life, as reflected in the seven gifts that Tradition, in light of the Sacred Scripture, has always highlighted.’
-Pope Francis, General Audience (29th Jan, 2014).

The sacrament of Confirmation is intimately linked with Baptism, deepening the graces already received and granting us special strength through the Holy Spirit to proclaim our faith in the Crucified and Risen Christ.

It is to stress further this important connection with Baptism that in the Diocese of Ballarat Confirmation is celebrated as the second sacrament of initiation prior to First Holy Communion.

Star of the Sea Parish has a Confirmation preparation program once a year for children who have been baptised and are in Year 3 or older.

Families at Parish Schools will be contacted by the school in the appropriate year for reception of the sacrament.

For those who aren’t within Parish Schools or whose children may have missed the reception of a sacrament of initiation within a parish school please contact the Parish Office for further information.
