First Holy Communion

‘At the Last Supper, on the night when he was betrayed, our Saviour instituted the eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. he did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross throughout the centuries until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a paschal banquet in which Christ is eaten, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.’ -Sacrosanctum Concilium, n. 47.

In the life of faith, we are gifted through the sacraments visible signs of God’s loving presence amongst us. Through holy Eucharist we receive Jesus himself as nourishment, as food for the journey becoming united more closely to him.

Through this sacrament we are further unified also as the People of God sharing new life as Christ’s body, acting as his hands and feet in the world.

Star of the Sea Parish has a First Eucharist preparation program once a year for children who have been baptised and are Year 4 or older.

Families at Parish Schools will be contacted by the school in the appropriate year for reception of the sacrament.

For those who aren’t within Parish Schools or whose children may have missed the reception of a sacrament of initiation within a parish school please contact the Parish Office for more information.
